ODESZA is an electronic music duo consisting of Harrison Mills (Catacombkid) and Clayton Knight (BeachesBeaches). Their debut album, Summer’s Gone, was released in 2012 to critical and popular acclaim. Several years and many releases later, they are receiving Grammy nominations, topping the Electronic/Dance music charts, headlining major music festivals, selling out Red Rocks Amphitheater, and have founded their own audio-visual label, called Foreign Family Collective.
“We run just about everything through Decapitator or Radiator before it hits anything else.”
ODESZA’s third studio album, A Moment Apart, is a 16-track album representative of ODESZA’s growth and maturity due to relentless touring and marathon studio sessions: weighted atmospheres, shimmering synth lines, and familiar feelings of nostalgia, optimism and hope, with their live show continuing to reflect the intent and intensity of their music.
“On Across the Room (feat. Leon Bridges) Decapitator and Devil-Loc were used on the chorus vocal chop to give it a nice vintage driven sound and some extra grit and character during that big uplifting section. We love using Decapitator to really give body and fullness to recordings that seem lacking in those ranges. We’ve also found some really interesting ways of using Devil-Loc on drum tracks as well as on tracks with big reverb. The plug-in does an incredible job of adding its own unique character to recordings that can feel a bit stock sounding.”
