Canadian born, award winning songwriter Gerald O’Brien, who makes his home in Nashville Tennessee, has written successfully across all genres of music and extensively for film and television. Most recently O’Brien has written music for the hit TV series Dr. Phil, Entertainment Tonight, The Insider, Rachel Ray, The Doctors and more. He has also written music for notable events such as the Tour De France, Calgary Stampede, The 1998 Nagano Olympics, the NFL Super Bowl, The World Series, ABC’s Wide World of Sports, the PGA, and has scored numerous animated TV series as well.
As a songwriter Gerald has penned songs for Hall & Oates, Manhattan Transfer, Amanda Marshall, Deborah Harry, Loverboy, The Guess Who, Glass Tiger, Michelle Wright as well as Martina McBride, Trace Adkins, Edens Edge and Ronnie Milsap. Most recently he co-wrote 5 songs on Sons of Sylvia called Revelation on 19 Recordings/Interscope. Three of those five songs were also co-produced by O’Brien along with music partner, Catt Gravitt in his Nashville studio.
Over his long and successful career O’Brien has received awards from CMPA for Song of Year, SOCAN Classic Song Award and been nominated for 2 JUNO Awards. Gerald is also one half of the instrumental duo Exchange(with Steve Sexton), who have recorded 6 albums since 1989.
