Decapitator Goes Public (Beta)

With the overwhelming response Decapitator received from its introduction at the New York AES in October, we wanted to get it into the hands of our users as quickly as possible. To make this happen, SoundToys has decided to make Decapitator available as a part of its new public beta program, starting immediately.

This program allows users to try out new products from SoundToys and provide important feedback before they are commercially released. It also has the added benefit of providing an extended demo through the holiday season.

Not all products will be available in this program, but more are planned and users who sign up will be notified of new developments in the program.

Coming Soon: Decapitator

(click for full size)

Fans of our analog saturation sound from plug-ins like EchoBoy and FilterFreak begged us for more saturation, so...

We used that as an excuse to buy huge amounts of classic and modern gear known for great saturation sounds, both subtle and extreme, and we listened closely to find what made them great. These models are built on the results of what we found. Decapitator is the sound of great analog gear and the ability to push it way too far. Featuring several base saturation models to choose from, tone control, and a mix control to get that perfect balance.

Will be available in TDM/RTAS/AudioSuite, VST, and AudioUnits formats.

Check out our Facebook Page for the most up-to-date info.

Coming Soon: PanMan

(click for full size)

Panning taken up to that "SoundToys" level. MIDI locked programmable rhythm patterns, groove and feel control, and cool modern innovations. Plus classic features from analog hardware like the old PanScan including triggered panning with definable trigger count.

Will be available in TDM/RTAS/AudioSuite, VST, and AudioUnits formats.

Check out our Facebook Page for the most up-to-date info.

Nine Inch Nails Lights One Up

If you didn't get to check out the Nine Inch Nails "Lights in the Sky" tour, then get up now and go beat your head on a wall. This was one of those shows that transcends mere great live music (which it is), but took you on a visual trip that, quite frankly, you've never seen before. The band line-up was outstanding and the chemistry worked like a charm. Mr Reznor and team kicked it hard, and kept pounding. Rolling through your favorites, and theirs. It doesn't hurt our feelings that almost everyone in the band and the crew are using SoundToys plug-ins, in the studio and on the stage. We're filled with pride to have been even a small part of this amazing event. Think we're a bit over the top? Well, we're not. The memory of the show is amazing, but here's hoping we get a DVD. I'll lay my money down now. Click here for more details.

The official site has more info on a possible video, and a painful missed opportunity. http://www.nin.com/

SoundToys Rocks the ArtHop

SoundToys hops into the arts as part of the local Art Hop in Burlington. SoundToys provided space in the new SoundToys building for artist displays and set up our own "Sound Space" audio art exhibit. The "Sound Space" featured SoundToys plug-ins, audio tracks in Ableton Live provided by Burlington native and World renowned remix artist Morgan Page, and the amazing AudioCubes from Percussa (Lighted cubes to manipulate the audio). Truly stunning and totally cool hands on art. The event went over great. Local artist got some exposure and we got to meet and greet the art community and toss around the oh so cool SoundCubes.

SoundToys Phone Freak-Out

Recently SoundToys has been plagued with phone problems. We had our lines hijacked by foreign hoodlums. Sounds crazy, but they were using our lines to make incredibly expensive and possibly shady business calls. We had to shut off, reboot, and call in the cavalry. During that, some of our voice-mail lines disappeared without notice. Long story short, we missed a bunch of your phone calls. We apologize if you felt ignored. It seems to be all worked out now, so our apologies to all. We hope it didn't cause too much frustration, and we hope you'll keep using our e-mail support forms a lot since we're all afraid of our phones now.

SoundToys and Nine Inch Nails

Trent Reznor was hard at work on the new Nine Inch Nails CD "Year Zero" when we stopped by in January, but took a few minutes out of his round the clock mix schedule to let us hear some tunes and tell us a few cool bits of behind the scenes info. The venerable Alan Moulder is at his side, or in front of his console, once more, and both seem to have fallen in love with EchoBoy. Trent told us that the new song "Me, I am not" was heavily inspired by EchoBoy and features the EchoBoy on many of the sounds in that track. The track rocks. Really rocks. Based on the track we heard, there's a lot of very cool sound design in the new project, and the the edge is very sharp.

Check out some of the new tracks on the NIN MySpace page to hear SoundToys pushed to the limits.

EchoBoy goes for the Gold!!

At the 2006 Winter Olympics EchoBoy got the Gold. Well it felt like Gold. When a top talent like Peter Gabriel sings a iconic song like John Lennon's Imagine and insists on using EchoBoy to get his vocal sound just right. To us, that's Gold. His long time engineer Richard Chappell hooked up his laptop with an M-Box and his trusty iLok with EchoBoy and pulled it all off in real-time. Richard says they've used EchoBoy on several recent projects and were very pleased with the sound. So much so that they just had to use it live.

You've never heard Tremolo like this.

Tremolator is an extremely flexible tremolo device that can easily create a myriad of standard guitar tremolo sounds, but also is capable of amplitude effects never imagined. Tremolator features a rhythm sequencer, LFO shape editor, envelope control over both rate and depth, and more. Because of this unparralled control, users can create stutter-cut drum loops, transform mixes, turn power chords into awesome rhythm tracks, or create a cool vibe on a keyboard or guitar part. Tremolator's rhythmic sequencer and MIDI or tap tempo locking allow it to lock to the beat and stay there.
