The Shure Level-Loc is an interesting beast. It was designed to be a leveling amplifier. A what? Yeah, it was designed to keep your voice level on a PA system if you we’re addressing a group and turning your head. Basically. However, Tchad Blake producer/engineer extraordinaire used it to create massive drum sounds and kind of turned this somewhat lacking piece of gear into a vital underground classic. Check out Devil-Loc Deluxe for our spin on this very cool, crushing, distorting little monster.
Notice it’s switch for the distance from the mic so you know where to stand. The one shown above is the “advanced” model. The original had just the Input Level knob. Simple back panel. Even comes with a battery suggestion, in case you’re not sure, or shure.
